Terms of Service

quantum-expectations.com is a personal, non-commercial educational project operated by Matthias Wulff (see the Contact & Legal Notice). It provides an interactive estimator, reference pages, and public programmatic interfaces (a REST API and a Model Context Protocol server) for reasoning about quantum computing error rates, qubit counts, and fault-tolerance requirements.

The service is provided free of charge, requires no account, and is intended for educational and research use.

All calculations are based on simplified, documented noise models (for example, uniform depolarizing noise) and on published data points compiled from cited public sources. Real quantum hardware is subject to effects these models do not capture, including leakage, crosstalk, correlated errors, and architecture-specific constraints.

Results are estimates for educational purposes. They are not guarantees of the performance, feasibility, or timeline of any quantum computing system, and historical trends shown on this site are not predictions. Do not rely on results for critical decisions without independent validation.

You may use the website, the REST API, and the MCP server for lawful purposes, including through AI assistants and automated agents. The public endpoints are rate-limited; you agree not to circumvent rate limits, disrupt the service, probe non-public endpoints, or misrepresent the origin of requests.

The content and works created by the site operator are subject to copyright law (see the Contact & Legal Notice). Underlying data points are compiled from publicly available research publications and vendor announcements, each cited at the point of use; the cited works remain the property of their respective authors. You may quote results and data from this site with attribution to quantum-expectations.com and to the cited primary sources.

The service is provided as is and as available. As a personal project it comes with no uptime commitment or service-level agreement, and the service, including the API and MCP interfaces, may be changed, suspended, or discontinued at any time. Breaking changes to the published agent contract are versioned where practical.

To the extent permitted by law, the operator is liable only for damages caused by intent or gross negligence, and for culpable injury to life, body, or health. Liability for slight negligence exists only upon breach of a material contractual obligation and is limited to foreseeable, typical damage. Any further liability, including for decisions made in reliance on the estimates provided, is excluded.

The site links to external websites and papers. The operator has no influence over their content; responsibility lies with their respective providers. Data handling by third-party processors is described in the Privacy Policy.

These terms may be updated from time to time, for example when the service gains new capabilities. The current version is always published on this page with the date of its last revision. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
